Grow your Own was initially set up in the Smith Anderson Managing Director's Garden walled garden in Leslie many years ago. When he reitired and the house was put up for sale we moved to SugarAcre in Falkland to work beside Falkland in Bloom. Here we have a large area at the rear of garden where any member of the Group can turn out on a Wednesday evening to help grow fruit and vegetables. At the same time we look after the running and upkeep of SugarAcre for Falkland in Bloom to allow their volunteers to concentrate on the growing of the flowers for the tubs, carts and hanging baskets.
2008 is the International Year of the Potato so this year we are growing 14 different varieties of potatoes. All the expertise and seed potatoes has been from our good friend and long standing supporter John Marshall of WCF Phoenix. We will update you as we go through the year. A huge THANK YOU must go to both John Marshall and Falkland in Bloom for helping us and making this project happen!
